After a huge earthquake struck Morocco, see what Hakimi & his members of the national team did

In the wake of a devastating 6.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Morocco, Achraf Hakimi and his fellow members of the Moroccan national football team demonstrated their compassion and solidarity to support the earthquake victims.

The earthquake, which occurred in Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains, resulted in a tragic loss of life.

The country’s Interior Ministry reported that the disaster claimed the lives of at least 2,901 people, with fatalities occurring primarily in Marrakesh and surrounding areas.

The quake’s epicenter was located at a depth of 18.5km, approximately 72km southwest of Marrakesh, and it struck shortly after 11 p.m. local time, according to the US Geological Survey.

Morocco has a history of experiencing frequent earthquakes, with the last major tremor in 2004 claiming 628 lives.

Amid the devastation and loss, Morocco’s national football team decided to make a meaningful contribution to their nation’s recovery efforts by donating blood to aid victims of the 6.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Morocco this past Friday.

They temporarily suspended their practice sessions to donate blood, a critical resource needed to help those injured in the earthquake.

The Interior Ministry reported that the earthquake left an additional 2,059 people injured, with 1,404 individuals in critical condition.

Shockingly, this earthquake was the most powerful to hit Morocco in 120 years.

The earthquake’s impact extended beyond the realm of sports. The Atlas Lions of Morocco had a scheduled match against Liberia for the African Cup of Nations qualifiers, but in light of the unfolding disaster, they, in agreement with the Confederation of African Football, decided to postpone the game.

Social media played a significant role in shedding light on the footballers’ act of generosity. Several players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, also took to social media to offer their condolences to the victims.

Videos shared on the internet showcased the Moroccan national team players donating blood instead of practicing for their upcoming matches.

This gesture of unity and support resonated deeply with the Moroccan people, who were grappling with the aftermath of the earthquake.

Numerous football fans expressed their gratitude online, acknowledging the players, particularly Hakimi, for their compassion and commitment to aiding their country in a time of crisis.

The earthquake in Morocco not only underscored the resilience of its people but also highlighted the impact and influence of athletes as they step forward to assist their communities during times of adversity.

Achraf Hakimi and his fellow national team members set an inspiring example of athletes using their platform to make a positive difference when it matters most.
